The community is mourning the loss of Cassandra Elizabeth Funk (née Krieger), affectionately known to family and friends as “Sandi,” who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 41. Her passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Adding to the heartbreak, Sandi’s beloved dogs, Edna and Valerie, also passed away, making the loss even more poignant for her family and friends.
Born on June 16, 1985, Sandi was known for her compassionate nature, generous spirit, and unwavering love for both people and animals. Throughout her life, she formed deep and lasting connections with those around her, touching countless lives through her kindness, warmth, and caring personality. Whether offering support to a friend in need or sharing laughter with loved ones, Sandi had a unique ability to make others feel welcomed and valued.
Family was at the center of Sandi’s life. She is survived by her devoted parents, Elaine and Al Krieger; her brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Viktoriia Krieger; her cherished nephew, Henry; and her grandmother, Margaret Krieger. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

As loved ones gather to celebrate her life, they will remember a woman whose kindness and compassion extended to everyone she encountered. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cochin Community Hall on August 22, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., where family and friends will come together to honor her memory and share stories of the impact she made on their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to local animal shelters, a fitting tribute to Sandi’s lifelong love of animals. Though she is gone, her legacy of kindness, generosity, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
